Starting ketamine-assisted therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you're already struggling. We've designed this process to be as straightforward and supportive as possible.
Step 1
Complete
a Pre-Screening Form
Before your evaluation, you’ll fill out
a short pre-screening form.
This helps your provider review your medical history and identify any conditions that automatically rule out ketamine-assisted therapy.
Step 2
Comprehensive Evaluation
Next, you’ll meet virtually with a psychiatrist who specializes in ketamine-assisted therapy. During this medical and psychiatric evaluation, you’ll also discuss your goals, learn more about how the therapy works, and confirm if it’s a good fit for you.
Step 3
Schedule and Receive
Your Treatment
Once you are cleared for treatment, you’ll schedule your in-person sessions at your local healthcare clinic. Your provider will give you instructions ahead of time about eating, drinking, medications, and transportation.
Step 4
Ongoing
Support and Follow-Up
After each treatment, you will have a follow-up appointment with a psychiatrist to support continuity between sessions and help determine the next steps in your treatment plan. Additionally, HealMind provides structured integration support to help you process the experience and apply insights to your daily life.
What to Expect on Treatment Day
You’ll check in at your local healthcare clinic and settle into a comfortable treatment space.
Your provider will review how you’re feeling and take baseline measurements, such as blood pressure and heart rate, to make sure everything is set for a smooth experience.
Sessions last for about 40 minutes, but plan to be in the office for around 2 hours.
After a ketamine session, some people feel relaxed, sleepy, or elated. Others notice changes in their senses or a feeling of being slightly detached. These effects can differ from person to person and often wear off shortly after your session.
You’ll need to arrange a safe ride home with someone you trust or a rideshare service, as you are not permitted to drive after treatment for the rest of the day. Do not use public transportation. Do not drive or operate machinery until the next day.
It’s important to give yourself time to settle after your KAT treatment. We recommend taking a few hours to rest, eat, and gently ease back into your day.
After your treatment, HealMind will follow up with you directly to begin integration support. You will also meet with a psychiatrist after each session to review your experience, check in on your progress, and discuss the next steps in your treatment plan.
How is Ketamine Administered?

How Many
Treatments Will I Need?
